Title: Monitoring of the territory of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Rayon of China to theframe work of transboundary river basins and dependent territories on the base of satellite information.
The object of research, development or design: Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region of China, basins of transboundary Rivers Kara-Ertis, Ile and dependent on these water sources internal territories of China (Jungar plain)
Aim of work: development of methods for analysis of satellite data and monitoring of XUAR facilities, including: hydraulic (channels, reservoirs); agricultural (irrigation arable land); natural (rivers, lakes); to assess the water supply of territories and water consumption of transboundary (Kazakhstan-China) resources in China.
Research methods: Classification and expert interpretation of satellite images, analysis of information from open databases of satellite products (NASA, USGS, etc.), 3-D terrain analysis, hydrodynamic calculations, methods of statistical data processing, etc.
Field of application: Monitoring of hydrology of the adjacent territories of XUAR, including: creation and updating of open databases of hydrological data on water deposit in the operating parts of the dominant reservoirs of the Chinese sector of the transboundary river Ile, the loading modes of the system of inter-basin water transfer of the transboundary River Kara-Ertis to the internal territories of Xinjiang, analytical materials of various directions. The results of the study will also be useful for the relevant ministries and departments of Kazakhstan, administering water use, as well as the public.
